Welcome to Your Luminous Journey

Congratulations, your custom neon sign has arrived!

Whether you are looking to illuminate your personal space, create an eye-catching focal point for a commercial venue, or add a romantic touch to a wedding party, a secure and aesthetic installation is the final step to perfectly showcasing its glow. Follow our professional installation guide to easily set up your neon sign!

Crucial Preparations Before You Begin

Before you pick up your tools, please complete the following checks and preparations:

  • Priority Power Test: Unbox your neon sign, connect the sign to the controller and adapter, and plug it in and adjust the dimmer to ensure the sign is functioning normally and glowing steadily. Pro Tip: Although all signs undergo strict quality control before shipping, this step prevents the hassle of discovering a power or wiring issue after a difficult installation.
  • Verify Installation Kit: Please check the accessories included in your package: screws, wall anchors/dowels, sign standoffs, hanging chain, or steel cable.
  • Prepare Your Toolkit: Essential tools include: electric drill, screwdriver, level, and a pencil or marker. If opting for ceiling hanging, you may also need a tape measure and cable cutter/crimper.

4 Common LED Neon Sign Installation Methods

We provide four of the most common and professional installation schemes. You can choose the best option based on the sign's size, weight, and your wall conditions.

1. Wall Mount Installation (Using Screws and Standoffs)

Wall Mount Installation

This is the most recommended and most secure installation method.

  • Suitable for: All sign sizes, especially recommended for large signs, commercial use, and permanent fixtures.

  • Advantages: Extremely safe, long-lasting, and creates a professional and beautiful "Floating Look" as the sign slightly suspends from the wall.

Key Steps:

  1. Confirm and Mark Hole Positions: Place the sign on the wall, using a level to ensure it is perfectly straight, then use a pencil or marker to precisely mark the spots on the wall by tracing through the sign's backboard pre-drilled holes.
  2. Drill and Insert Anchors: Remove the sign, use the electric drill to drill holes at the marked positions, and based on your wall material (e.g., drywall, concrete), insert the appropriate wall anchors/dowels into the holes.
  3. Install Standoff Bases: Disassemble the standoff, and use screws to fix the standoff base/body securely to the wall.
  4. Secure the Sign: Align the sign with the standoff bases, place the standoff caps over the sign, and tighten the screws to secure the sign firmly to the bases. Pro Tip: Ensure the cushioning spacer (if provided) is placed between the sign's backboard and the standoff cap to prevent undue pressure on the acrylic.
  5. Power On: Connect the controller and power adapter, plug it into the socket, and light up your sign.

2. Wall/Ceiling Hanging Installation (Using Steel Cable or Chain)

Hanging Installation

This method is flexible and convenient, creating a unique suspended visual effect.

  • Suitable for: Common for window displays, trade show backdrops, ceiling suspension, or situations requiring easy mobility and removal.

  • Crucial Safety Warning: When using this method, always consider the sign's weight. Signs weighing no more than 30 lbs (approximately 13.6 kg) can typically be installed this way. If the sign exceeds 30 lbs or is very large, it is strongly recommended to seek professional installation or use the Wall Mount method.

Key Steps:

  1. Measure and Mark Positions: Use a tape measure to find the distance between the pre-drilled holes at the top ends of the sign, and mark the corresponding drilling locations on the wall or ceiling.
  2. Fix Hangers: Drill holes at the marked positions, insert wall anchors, and securely fix the hanging brackets (or hooks)
  3. Hang and Adjust: Thread the hook, steel cable, or hanging chain through the sign's pre-drilled holes, adjust the length of the cable/chain to ensure the sign is level and hangs naturally, then use a cable cutter/crimper to secure the connection point between the steel cable and the sign, and cut off any excess cable (leaving about 1 cm).
  4. Power On: Connect the controller, power adapter, plug it into the socket, and light up the sign.

3. No-Drill Installation (Using 3M Command Strips or Strong Adhesives)

The quickest and least damaging way to mount the sign.

  • Suitable for: Lightweight signs (like name signs or small logos), especially ideal for dormitories, apartments, offices, or scenarios where drilling is prohibited.

  • Weight Limit: This method is not recommended for signs weighing over 5 lbs (approximately 2.3 kg).

  • Wall Requirements: The wall surface must be clean and flat. Not suitable for heavily textured walls, outdoor use, or humid environments.

Key Steps:

  1. Thorough Wall Cleaning: Use a dry cloth to wipe both the wall and the back of the sign to ensure the surface is free of dust and oil.
  2. Apply Adhesive Strips: Follow the instructions on the 3M Command Strips (or other adhesive brand) and apply them evenly and firmly to the back of the sign.
  3. Secure the Sign: Use a level or visual inspection to ensure the sign is horizontal, then press the sign firmly against the wall, holding for at least 30 seconds to ensure the strips are fully secured.
  4. Power On: Connect the controller, power adapter, plug it into the socket, and light up the sign.

4. Zip Tie Installation (Best for Flower Walls and Grid Backdrops)

A flexible and aesthetic solution for temporary or backdrop mounting.

  • Suitable for: Commonly used for wedding flower walls, event backdrops, or securing the sign to retail store flower walls or metal grilles, allowing for quick installation and removal.

Key Steps:

  1. Thread and Secure: Thread the zip ties through the sign's backboard pre-drilled holes and pass the zip tie ends through the metal mesh or support structure of the flower wall.
  2. Trim Excess: Pull the zip ties taut and secure them firmly, then cut off any excess zip tie material.
  3. Power On: Connect the power, and light up your sign.

Additional Advice for Outdoor Installation

If you plan to permanently fix your sign outdoors:

  1. Choose Waterproof: Be sure to select a sign with a waterproof option (IP rating certification). They have higher weather resistance and can withstand rain, moisture, and cold.
  2. Maximum Security: For outdoor signs, the Wall Mount Installation (screws and standoffs) method is strongly recommended as the most secure option to ensure safety against strong winds or other adverse weather conditions.
